Leadership is a club which emphasizes in developing the leaders. I have taken part in it since I spent the first year in GCA. Actually I was extremely shy and introvert before I studied in GCA, so I feel a little nervous when I attended the leadership family first. Mr. Gallinelli is the instructor of this club, and in the first meeting he gave us an impressive class, he used a-hundred cash to teach us that if you want to do anything just start planning now and take actions. The two-hour activity made the group members cooperate well and use brain when we are playing. The 6-person pyramid let us trust each other; transporting ping-pong ball made us patient; guessing-words exercises our oral explanation. I began to have a new recognition to the leadership that sometimes the games can have a wonderful communication between group members and make our relationship closer. I was looking forward the next activity.
On March 21, 2009, Sheraton Business Case Study began. Through the effort and preparation, we all wore in suits and arrived at Kinsley Sheraton Hotel on time that Saturday morning. That was the first time that I felt the formal atmosphere in the business conference. Mr. Gallinelli seemed that he also felt the seriousness. As a result, we began a new game called bridge. Several people formed a circle and sat on the chairs, then they lie on the person’s lap who behind them and put the chairs away. They had to insist without the hands or any parts of the body touch the ground. I did that game with my group members---Kate, Tracy, Kathleen and the Leadership CEO Cherry. The success depends on the belief to each other and determination, we competed with another boys’ group and of course we did not want to lose. I conquered the sour feeling from my legs and fell down on each other happily after we won.
Soon after this unforgettable memory, the GCA sports day started on 24th of April, 2009. As a member of Leadership, I became the class leader of 10-B and my mission was to lead them to the appointed places on time. From beginning I received this mission, I felt it was not an easy thing, because I had to lead a twenty-eight-person class alone and picked appointed amounts of people to participate the games. Then I prepared, read all the rules of the games, let my classmates to book their names under the sports they want to take part in. I remembered that the mid-term exams also held during those weekdays, so I always did this stuff until the midnight. Until that day came, although I prepared a lot, the facts always forced me to change some classmates’ names and balance. The toughest thing I met was that there were two games happen at the same time, and until the next game’s time, they had not finished! I knew that if we did not go to the next game on time, we would lose the whole points! Luckily, Ms. Bartell promised she would explain the situation to the leading teacher who instructed the sport we did not do, so we thanked to her and ran to the next game immediately. Then everything happened in order in the following time, and we finished that sport in the end. After I got home, I felt extremely exhausted learned that actually being a leader was such a tough thing. However, my successful feeling after this Sports day was much more than the tiredness.
Being a leader, means to be patient, easy-going, responsible, cooperated, those are the ways to work effectively and safely with other students at GCA. Leadership's strength is obvious, it has the leaders of all GCA. However, the leaders in this club may be not know each other very well instead of a small group which contains the people they are familiar with.
